1 Showing up on time
Please enter the room about 5 minutes before the class starts. If it's your child's first lesson, please make sure Zoom is working properly ahead of time. If your child is late, he/she can still enter the lesson, but I won't be able to recap what we have done already.
2 Missing a class
It's fine if your child has to miss a class. Please give me a 24-hour notice. If 24-hour notice is not possible, please give as much advance notice as possible. There is no rescheduling of a class if your child misses a class, but if you have given an advance notice of at least 2 hours before the start time of the class, the video recording of the class will be made available to your child but not the homework. The class credit purchased will not be deducted and it can be used for the next class. If there is no advance notice or advance notice is less than 2 hours long (i.e. skipping a class), the lesson credit will be deducted even if your child is not attending the class. In this case, too, video recording will be made available to your child but not the homework. The same is true if your child leaves the class early.
3 Missing multiple classes
The classes are useful only if they are attended consistently. If your child misses more than 4 lessons in a 60-day period, I may move your child to another time that your child can consistently attend or suspend your child for a period of time until he/she is available to attend consistently again. Note that this doesn't apply to pre-arranged plans for temporary absence, such as spring break or summer vacation.
4 Disruptive behaviors in class
In order for every child to be able to focus in class, every child is expected to focus in class and not disrupt others. If your child becomes too disruptive, I may mute your child or in extreme cases, I may remove your child from the class. If this were to happen, the video recording and homework will still be made available to your child, but a full class credit is still deducted.
5 Being respectful in class
It's important to be respectful toward others in the class. The following behaviours or languages are unacceptable.
- Swearing or using obscene languages
- Using sexist language
- Using racist language
- Bullying or belittling another child in the class
If your child exhibits this kind of behaviors even after a verbal warning, I may mute your child or in extreme cases, I may remove your child from the class. If this were to happen, the video recording and homework will still be made available to your child, but a full class credit is still deducted.
6 Bathroom breaks during class
There is a 10-minute bathroom break after about 30 minutes. Your child is welcome to step out and use the bathroom during the lesson as well, without needing to inform me. Just come back to the lesson afterwards.
7 Internet disruption or technical difficulties
Sometimes, technical difficulties arise. If a technical difficulty arises on my end for more than 2, 3 minutes, I will add the amount of time missed to the end of the class, or reschedule another time if that is not possible. If a technical difficulty arises on your child's end, I will not be able to pause the class or extend the class; however, the video recording of the class is made available, so your child is encouraged to review it. In rare situations where your child loses video connection for an extended amount of time (and if this is not a recurring problem), please contact me to see if he/she can join another class to make up the session.
8 Exchanging contact information with other students
It's natural that your child might want to become a friend with another student in the class, and I am okay with it. However, I am not able to release the contact information of another student or his/her parents due to the privacy laws. If you or your child wants the contact information of a fellow student, please directly exchange the contact information with the other student inside Zoom during the 10-minute break by means of private messaging or chat. Please also note that I will not be held responsible if any damages, such as fights or fraud, happen outside the class as a result of the exchange of contact information.
9 Refund policies
There will be no refund on lesson credits used if your child skips a class without at least 2 hours of advance notification (see Policy #2), if your child leaves the class early (see Policy #2), if your child is removed from the class due to repeated disruptive behaviors (see Policy #4) or repeatedly using unacceptable languages (see Policy #5). Otherwise, refund schedule will follow the following schedule:
- 5-class package: Refund of the unused classes within 3 days of completion of 1 class. After this date, no refund is issued but you are welcome to reschedule or delay the classes.
- 10-class package: Refund of the unused classes within 3 days of completion of 3 classes. After this date, no refund is issued but you are welcome to reschedule or delay the classes.
- 30-class package: Refund of the unused classes within 3 days of completion of 6 classes. After this date, no refund is issued but you are welcome to reschedule or delay the classes.
